Technology

Built with precision.

Our press is designed from first principles — dowels at 12 in on centre, force-verified hydraulic insertion, and a complete record of every dowel in every panel.

The DLT Process

Eight steps, one continuous line.

01

Dry and grade

SPF dimensional lumber arrives kiln-dried and graded No.2 & Better, to published structural design values.

02

Remove defects

Defects are cut out so only quality lumber moves forward.

03

Profile

Each lamella is milled for full board-to-board contact and the chosen surface profile.

04

Align and clamp

Lamella are aligned face-to-face and clamped square into a true, continuous panel.

05

Drill

Holes are bored through the panel to a tight interference-fit tolerance.

06

Insert dowels

Hardwood dowels are driven under controlled force, with displacement recorded on every insertion.

07

Machine and finish

Assembled panels are machined to the project specification — openings and penetrations cut in the shop, not on site — then finish coatings are applied.

08

Confirm

Finished panel dimensions are verified against the project specification before release.

Quality

Verified, not assumed.

Each 20 mm hardwood dowel is driven into a 19 mm hole. That one millimetre is the whole design: the dowel is compressed going in, then swells as it takes up moisture from the surrounding lamella, locking the panel permanently without glue or metal. Every insertion is monitored for force and displacement against a pass band set for that panel recipe — an insertion outside the band, high or low, fails and the panel is held. Production runs in a moisture-controlled environment so the fit performs exactly as designed.

We are pursuing CCMC evaluation, Canada’s national code-acceptance pathway for construction materials.

Monitoring & Traceability

Every panel ships with its birth certificate.

Each panel is laser-etched with a unique QR code linking to its complete manufacturing record — the full force–displacement trace for every dowel, material provenance, and certifications, captured live on the press.
